Spontaneous magnetisation of (100) and (010) surfaces of a MnF2 single crystal in the antiferromagnetic state is discovered. A sign of the surface magnetisation is determined by a difference in dielectric constants ε of MnF2 and ambient matter: magnetisation is directed to the substance with a smaller ε. |
