Physical properties of optically uniaxial BaLa1-xNdxGa3O7 crystals have been investigated. Specific heat, thermal expansion coefficients, thermal diffusivity, Young modules and Poisson ratios of the crystal have been determined. Basing upon these parameters and the available spectral data the operating conditions for lasers employing rods made of BaLa1-xNdxGa3O7 have been defined.
