Al-Cu-Fe alloys with a nominal composition of Al63Cu24Fe13, Al62Cu25.5Fe12.5 and Al65Cu20Fe15 have been fabricated by solid-state reaction at 550, 650, and 750°C. The synthesized alloys mainly consist of icosahedral Al65Cu20Fe15, body-centered cubic β-AlFe(Cu) and monoclinic λ-Al13Fe4 phases. After synthesis under optimal conditions the fraction of the icosahedral phase was 100, 80, and 85 weight per cent in Al63Cu24Fe13, Al62Cu25.5Fe12.5, and Al65Cu20Fe15, respectively. |
